today’s voice

A box, lying in the midst of society. Rigid, and square. All very prim and proper. Very neat. Very safe…

Safe: “involving little risk or mishap”. Who wants safe? People who are afraid of falling and failure. People who are concerned about what might befall them. People who are insecure…

Go into the box – yes, you will be safe. Pretty much. Live the life with chosen roads, take the multiple choice test with the occupational options: doctor, lawyer, banker. Success is assumed to be pre-determined in that route, or so I hear. Money flows like the water at Nigeria Falls (oh and did you know it was frozen just recently?). Live a life knowing your rice bowl will never be empty.

But I question if the box is for everyone. I question if there are people who weren’t made to be square. I question if society only has boxes.

Because intelligence is not limited by just equations and numbers.
Because artistic flair is as valuable as scientific brilliance.
Because making it in life is not about success but significance.

I believe there lies a generation that is willing to take risks. To let go of safety because they are secure. Because security doesn’t indicate certainty, but security implies dependency.

Dependency on the promise that no one is created by accident.
Dependency on the purpose that lies in every existence.
Dependency on the known Person who has clarity of their unknown future.

The cry today is not for rights, for justice or for equality. The cry today is for freedom, for creativity, for respect.

A box, lying in the midst of society. Rigid, and square. All very prim and proper. Very neat. Very safe…

It’s not for me. I’m out of the box. And that is perfectly okay.
